Quest
Mountaineer Cornelius in WoW Forever: Secure the Mountain
Find Mountaineer Cornelius for Secure the Mountain in WoW Forever, with the Grizzled Den location, quest giver, requirements, and beta caveats.
Mountaineer Cornelius is the NPC you must find inside the Grizzled Den for the WoW Forever quest Secure the Mountain. The quest is part of the early Dun Morogh route and is given by Mountaineer Gretchen.
Where is Mountaineer Cornelius?
Go to the Grizzled Den in Dun Morogh and search inside the cave for Cornelius. Community route data places the den approach at approximately 43.6, 49.6.
The quest text says Cornelius charged into the wendigo-filled cave ahead of Gretchen, so do not stop at the entrance: the objective is to locate him inside the Grizzled Den.
Beta note: the den location is stable across current community and client-derived references, but exact NPC placement can change between beta builds. Treat coordinates as guidance rather than a launch-final pin.

Fast walkthrough
- Pick up Secure the Mountain from Mountaineer Gretchen.
- Travel north toward the Grizzled Den.
- Enter the cave instead of only searching around the outside.
- Work through the wendigos and find Mountaineer Cornelius inside.
- Continue the quest chain as directed by the current objective text.
If your objective does not update after reaching Cornelius, check that you are on the correct step of the chain and re-read the quest tracker before assuming the NPC is bugged.
What else can you do in the Grizzled Den?
The early Dun Morogh route can send you into the same cave area for other objectives, so it is worth checking your quest log before entering. Community leveling routes commonly group the Cornelius search with other Grizzled Den tasks to avoid a second trip.
