Mage Build
WoW Forever Mage Build: Level 20 & 30 Beta
Use a validated Frost Mage leveling build for WoW Forever beta levels 20 and 30, with control priorities, mana management and gear guidance.
Frost is the safest general Mage leveling path because slowing, rooting and creating distance make individual Classic-paced pulls more controllable. Fire is the burst and critical-strike alternative; Arcane offers mana and utility choices plus the new Arcane Blast path.
Level 20 Frost build — 11 points
| Talent | Rank |
|---|---|
| Improved Frostbolt | 5/5 |
| Elemental Precision | 5/5 |
| Ice Lance | 1/1 |
This improves the primary cast, spell reliability and movement follow-up while spending exactly 11 points.
Level 30 Frost extension — 21 points
Keep the level-20 points, then add:
| Talent | Added rank |
|---|---|
| Ice Shards | 5/5 |
| Piercing Ice | 3/3 |
| Frost Channeling | 1/3 |
| Cold Snap | 1/1 |
The extension is valid under the fixed row and prerequisite rules. It leaves room for different level-30 choices if group content makes Improved Blizzard or other control more valuable.
Combat priority
- Open at range with Frostbolt and use the slow to preserve distance.
- Use Frost Nova when an enemy reaches you, then move before casting again.
- Use Ice Lance while movement or a frozen target makes it worthwhile.
- Finish with a wand when doing so saves enough mana to avoid a full drink.
- In dungeons, use Polymorph and controlled area damage; do not break crowd control for a larger meter number.
Gear direction
Intellect, Spirit, Stamina and spell damage are useful leveling directions. Blizzard says caster weapons now grant spell damage and healing, making weapon upgrades meaningful for spellcasters. Exact Frost stat weights are not treated as solved while spell ranks and beta tuning remain in motion.

Data note and sources
The talent plan is tied to fixed snapshot 1.60.1.69876; it is not a live damage simulation.
