WoW Forever Temporary Economy Hold: What to Check
Understand WoW Forever Temporary Economy Hold restrictions on trade, mail, guild banks and auctions, plus account checks and why no fixed timer is promised.
Temporary Economy Hold is an account-level economic restriction associated with suspected real-money trading (RMT), not simply another name for a server outage. Blizzard names trade, mail, guild banks and the Auction House as affected systems in its October 13 announcement.
Is an economy hold the same as a ban?
A hold alone is not proof of a permanent account penalty. Blizzard acknowledges false positives: investigation can clear the restriction, while confirmed RMT can lead to account action. That does not let this site determine why a particular account was flagged or promise the result of its review.
Do not describe another player as a gold buyer just because they report a hold. Equally, do not assume an account-action email is only a harmless temporary hold; read the actual notice.
Why can't I trade, send mail or use the Auction House?
Match the message before choosing a fix:
| What you see | Useful next check |
|---|---|
| An explicit Temporary Economy Hold notice | Check the account and any related notices; save the exact wording. |
| One feature fails without a hold notice | Record the error and check service or beta issue reports. A failed action alone does not diagnose a hold. |
| Many players cannot log in | Start with server and maintenance checks, not account-penalty assumptions. |
| A suspension or ban notice | Follow the account-restriction information for that action, rather than a guessed hold countdown. |
Use Beta Known Issues for documented game bugs. Reinstalling an addon or changing graphics settings is not an account-review process.
How long does a Temporary Economy Hold last?
No fixed release timer is published in the reviewed announcement. Do not rely on a 24-hour or 48-hour promise from another player's experience. For planning, treat unavailable economic features as unavailable until your own account notice or in-game state changes.
This page does not calculate an expiry time or offer an unlock service. Only Blizzard can review your account; we cannot accelerate that review.
What should I do if I think it is a mistake?
- Save the full error, date and timezone, affected game account, region and relevant character. Keep account identifiers private.
- Sign in through the official Blizzard Support site, not an unsolicited message. Review any account restrictions, email notices and available support options.
- If a review or appeal option is available for your account action, provide a concise timeline and the requested evidence. Do not publish passwords, payment details or ticket identifiers in public discussions.
- Use the instructions attached to your own case. A general ban-appeal route is not a guaranteed dedicated appeal route for an economy hold.
These are evidence-gathering and account-safety suggestions, not a Blizzard-approved method to remove a hold. Avoid paid “unlock” offers, gold sellers or moving items through another account to evade a restriction.
Are gifts and transfers between my characters guaranteed safe?
There is no verified public trigger threshold or blanket exception in the announcement. We do not invent a safe gold amount or diagnose a flag from a transaction screenshot. Describe the circumstances accurately if Blizzard requests them; do not experiment with repeated transfers to reverse-engineer enforcement.
