Skyborne in WoW Forever: Classes, Faction & Unlock
Skyborne are WoW Forever's new playable race. See confirmed faction choices, class access, Zephras Isle start, unlock requirements, and beta unknowns.
Skyborne are the new playable race introduced with World of Warcraft: Forever. At character creation, you choose whether your Skyborne joins the Horde or the Alliance, and that faction choice changes at least one class option: Horde-aligned Skyborne can be Shamans, while Alliance-aligned Skyborne can be Mages.
Both factions can also play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid. Blizzard has also confirmed unique Skyborne druid forms, new racials, customization options, voices, dances, and visual choices.
Confirmed Skyborne class access
| Skyborne alignment | Confirmed classes |
|---|---|
| Both factions | Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid |
| Horde-aligned | Shaman plus the shared classes |
| Alliance-aligned | Mage plus the shared classes |
This is the confirmed Skyborne-specific matrix from Blizzard's Forever panel. For the wider set of new race/class combinations, see Race/Class Combinations & Racials.
Where do Skyborne start?
Skyborne begin on Zephras Isle, an elemental skybound starting experience for levels 1 through 12. Blizzard describes the zone as combining Classic Warcraft aesthetics with architecture inspired by Skywall.
The full route, quest order, NPC coordinates, exits, and map remain beta-dependent. Those details belong on the dedicated Zephras Isle guide rather than being duplicated here.
How do you unlock Skyborne?
Blizzard currently includes Skyborne access with the optional Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, and Warcraft Forever Collection.
The Heroic Pack description includes:
- access to the Skyborne race;
- the Zephras Isle starting experience;
- Early Name Reservation;
- the Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount;
- cosmetic items and housing decor;
- one Invite-A-Friend Launch Code.
The Epic Pack and Collection include the same Skyborne access plus additional benefits. For the complete comparison, use WoW Forever Editions.
Can Skyborne choose either faction?
Yes. Blizzard explicitly says that at character creation you choose whether the Skyborne joins the Horde or the Alliance.
That is unusual enough that it affects both lore discussion and practical class planning. The faction choice is not just a cosmetic label because Blizzard has already tied Shaman to Horde-aligned Skyborne and Mage to Alliance-aligned Skyborne.
What are the Skyborne racials?
Blizzard has confirmed that Skyborne have new racials, but the official panel recap does not provide a final complete list with beta-ready values in the material used for this page.
Community preview screenshots and player-built matrices are useful for identifying what to test, but we will not publish permanent racial values until they can be verified in the beta client.
The same rule applies to exact Druid form behavior and any faction-specific customization details not yet documented by Blizzard.
What beta needs to verify
When beta opens, this page will be updated with:
- exact racial abilities and values;
- full character-creation options;
- faction-specific visual or voice differences, if any;
- all Skyborne Druid forms;
- the exact Zephras Isle exit flow;
- whether non-Skyborne characters can visit Zephras Isle and under what conditions;
- any restrictions tied to Early Name Reservation or upgrade ownership.
Why Skyborne is already a major search topic
Skyborne is one of the clearest Forever-specific entities: it combines a new race, faction choice, class access, a dedicated starting zone, and an optional paid unlock path. Community discussion has already centered on price, lore, class options, and whether the race fits the old High Elf expectations players bring to Warcraft.
That is why this page owns the broad Skyborne search intent. We will not create separate thin pages for "Skyborne classes," "Skyborne racials," and "how to unlock Skyborne" unless those subtopics grow large enough to require independent guides.
Pre-release note: faction choices and the confirmed Skyborne class list come from Blizzard. Exact racial values and detailed starting-zone routing remain beta verification items.
