WoW Forever Macro Builder: Mouseover & Pet Controls

Create a WoW Forever macro online from nine class templates. Edit spell names and copy the result without installing a tool. Test it in your own game client.

Choose a class template, enter the exact spell name from your client's spellbook, and copy the result into /macro. These are reference templates, not a tested rotation package. The website language does not set your game client's spell language.

Build a macro

87 UTF-8 bytes / 255 tool budget

Check the template in /macro before using it.

The tool generates text only. It does not connect to your game, run commands, automate combat, or install an addon. Your edits stay in this tab and are lost on reload. A conservative 255-byte output budget keeps templates short; it is a tool limit, not certification of the current client's macro limits.

Example: friendly mouseover without self-cast

Select Priest, enter Renew, and turn off the self-cast option. The builder produces:

#showtooltip Renew
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead] Renew

This example uses an English spell name. Replace it with the exact name in your own spellbook if your game client uses another language; the builder does not translate or check whether you have learned the spell.

The macro first checks for a living friendly mouseover, then a living friendly target. With neither, it has no self-cast fallback. A matching mouseover that is out of range still wins the condition check: the macro does not then try your selected target. Compare that behavior with your intended use before putting it on your action bar.

Example: send a pet or recall it with Shift

Select Hunter and set the recall modifier to shift. The spell-name field is not used for pet templates. The output is:

/petattack [nomod:shift,pet,harm,nodead]
/petfollow [mod:shift,pet]

Without Shift, the attack line requires an existing pet and a living hostile target. Hold Shift to use the follow line instead. This template neither summons nor revives a pet. Warlock uses the same pet-control format. These are generated examples, not evidence that we executed them in the release client.

What the templates do

  • Warrior starts auto-attacking a living hostile target before attempting the selected ability.
  • Rogue adds a nostealth guard to both attack and cast lines. It is not an opener or a promise that every ability preserves Stealth.
  • Paladin, Priest, Shaman and Druid try a living friendly mouseover, then a living friendly target. Optional self-targeting applies only if neither condition matches.
  • Mage tries a living hostile mouseover, then a living hostile target.
  • Hunter and Warlock send an existing pet to a living hostile target; holding the selected modifier instead calls the pet back. A missing or dead pet is not summoned or revived.

The first matching condition wins. If that target is out of range, the macro does not retry later targets. Normal cooldowns, range, line of sight, mana and form restrictions still apply. Pet commands and spell casts also depend on the client accepting the template.

Test safely before relying on it

Open /macro, create a new macro, paste the output and place it on an action bar. Compare one keypress against the ordinary spell button on a suitable target. If copying is unavailable, select the output and copy it manually. Do not add unknown /run or /script commands.

Read the macro guide and nine class examples (opens in a new tab) for troubleshooting. For announced ability differences, use the class ability changes lookup (opens in a new tab); talent point planning belongs in the separate Talent Calculator (opens in a new tab).

Why is the macro empty or not working?

SymptomWhat to check
An input warning appears and copying is disabledEnter one spell name, not an entire /cast line. Empty input, line breaks, conditions such as [harm] and names over 80 characters are rejected for spell templates
A short-looking name exceeds the budgetThe output limit counts UTF-8 bytes, including commands and conditions. Some characters use several bytes; use a shorter valid name only if it is still the exact spell name
The macro names a spell you do not haveDefaults use English names. Copy the learned spell's name from your own client; the tool cannot detect your language, spellbook or rank
A friendly macro does nothing despite another valid targetCheck whether the mouseover already matched. Range and line of sight do not cause the macro to try the next condition
The pet does not attack or returnCheck that the pet exists, the target is appropriate and you are holding the modifier selected in the builder
The copy button failsSelect the generated text and copy manually. The tool reports clipboard failure; it does not mean the macro has run or passed a game test
