WoW Forever Library Books: Locations & Rewards

Collect readable books, then hand them to your faction's librarian; a book seen on the map is not a completed turn-in. This guide covers a small, source-reviewed starting route and reported reward milestones, not a verified checklist of every book in the launch client.

Find your faction's librarian

Alliance reports point to Garion Wendell in Stormwind's Mage Tower; Horde reports point to Owen Thadd in the Magic Quarter, Undercity. Method's illustrated beta guide places them around 49.0, 86.3 on the Stormwind map and 74.0, 32.5 on the Undercity map. Confirm the map and NPC name: coordinates from a different city-map layout may not match.

The collection is not limited to Mages. However, being open to several classes does not establish that every book has the same faction access. Check the quest offered by your own librarian before planning a cross-faction trip.

Keep separate notes for picked up and turned in. Two copies of one title are not two different books; an addon discovery count is not proof that the librarian credited that many titles.

Four stops to start with

These are beta-era locations reported in illustrated guides and player quest comments. Coordinates are approximate, tied to the map named in the table, and have not been independently checked by us in the current client.

Use the boat and travel guide to combine nearby errands. The Wailing Caverns guide covers the dungeon itself; collecting an outer-cave book does not require clearing it. This is not a safe-at-any-level or fastest-completion route.

Newer Wowhead reporting removed the old Rogue-only restriction from Field Researcher's Loop. Do not plan around that obsolete restriction. Method also flags a change to the bow's equip requirement to level 40, while earlier reporting described level-30 use. Quest eligibility, reward availability and equipment level are different checks: inspect the live quest and item tooltip before choosing. We do not certify the present minimum level of every milestone or a reward for collecting all books.

No new quest, or a book did not count?

1. Check whether the title is still in your bags or was actually handed in.
2. Compare titles, not pickup spots. Another copy of Rumi is not a new unique title.
3. Check your faction librarian, current quest and character requirements. Do not assume a guide's total is your credited total.
4. Keep an uncredited book. Beta reports describe trouble reacquiring deleted books; there is no verified universal recovery method here.

For a small collection trip, choose nearby stops first and leave hostile or high-level zones for later. For another exploration reward, the Cozy Sleeping Bag route remains a separate quest chain; library books do not unlock it.
