Trade-camp currency

WoW Forever Merchant's Favor: Crates, Writs & Reputation

Earn Merchant's Favor in WoW Forever, find your faction's trade camp, separate crates from reputation writs, and check recipe requirements before spending.

Merchant's Favor pays for trade-camp purchases; camp reputation unlocks access to some of those purchases. They are different requirements. Public beta references describe filled Waylaid Crates as the currency route and Craftsman's Writ deliveries as the regular reputation route.

This is a beta-reference preparation guide, reviewed October 29. We have not retested its vendor stock, costs or quests in the release client. It is not an official final-price list.

Use your faction's camp. The English organization, NPC and item names below help match public references; they are not promises about every localized client label.

Fill a crate and collect Merchant's Favor

  1. Obtain a Waylaid Crate. Beta sources describe world drops and Auction House listings.
  2. Read its rank and the accepted material options. When it lists alternatives, choose one allowed bundle, not every alternative.
  3. Fill it to create the corresponding Sealed crate.
  4. Bring that sealed crate to Marcy Baker for Alliance or Dokimi for Horde.
  5. Check the turn-in reward and your currency balance before filling the next crate.

Empty and sealed crates are different items. Do not buy an expensive bundle until you have checked the crate's exact name, character requirement and whether you can complete the hand-in.

For a crate refusing the expected reagent, use the separate Waylaid Crates bug and fix history. That old acknowledgement is not proof that the same bug remains in the release client.

Raise reputation with Craftsman's Writs

A Craftsman's Writ is a delivery order, not a filled crate. Start its quest, obtain the requested finished item, and deliver it to the named customer. Public beta references describe making or buying that item; the requested craft is not automatically a profession you must learn yourself.

Check the quest's recipient and travel route before buying the item. Beta references place the same writ on a daily repeat limit, so do not purchase duplicate orders expecting unlimited immediate reputation.

The references also describe a Shipping Label introduction and additional options after Friendly. Those are exceptions to the simple crate/writ distinction; read the actual quest or vendor option instead of assuming every crate turn-in awards reputation.

Why can I not buy or learn a recipe?

What is blockedCheck
Vendor purchaseCorrect camp/vendor, currency and required reputation
Learning the purchased recipeProfession, skill and any character restrictions
Crafting after learningExact reagents, tools and deployed workstation
Reward missing after a deliveryCorrect quest, correct recipient and whether turn-in completed

A Tanning Rack or Spinning Wheel is a crafting requirement, not another currency. A camp vendor is not the same as your profession trainer.

Plan the purchase before farming

Write down the recipe, Favor price, reputation requirement, profession skill and finished item's intended use. Then compare the full cost: crate materials, writ goods and travel, not only the vendor price.

Choose an immediate useful recipe over buying every available pattern by default. Local Auction House prices and your leveling pace decide whether a purchase makes sense; there is no guaranteed gold-making order here.

Start with Professions for trainer and material guides, Camping for station rules, and PvP progression for the separate Honor, Rank Points and Battleground reputation systems.

What remains provisional

We are not publishing a universal Favor-per-gold ratio, a final inventory count, guaranteed crate drop rates or fixed release prices. Community tables disagree on recipe totals and may use different beta builds. Buying currency from third parties or paying to bypass reputation is not part of this guide.
