WoW Forever PvP: 14 Ranks, Honor, Rewards & Battlegrounds

WoW Forever uses a seasonal 14-rank PvP track. See Honor, Darkspear Islands, rewards, beta datamining and the rules still under beta verification.

WoW Forever is replacing the old competitive ranking race with a new seasonal PvP progression system built around 14 ranks, PvP rewards, Battleground participation, and a new Battleground reputation. Blizzard has confirmed the broad design; beta datamining is beginning to expose the reward track and currencies.

What Blizzard has confirmed

The September 17 live Q&A confirmed several important rules:

  • there is no Rated PvP planned for Forever;
  • PvP uses a new progression track that resets each season/tier;
  • Blizzard is adjusting Honor gains so Alterac Valley is not automatically the best answer for progression;
  • a new Battleground is coming with its own reputation;
  • Horde and Alliance remain separated, with no cross-faction gameplay.

Earlier developer interviews also described a 14-rank Honor-style progression track.

The 14-rank progression track

Current beta information points to ranks 1 through 14, preserving familiar rank fantasy while changing the progression model.

This is not the old system where only a tiny number of players can occupy the top slots through a weekly ladder.

Beta datamining instead suggests a seasonal progression structure with point ceilings that rise over time. That interpretation is useful for understanding the current client, but exact weekly thresholds can still change before launch.

Honor vs Rank Points

Community datamining of build 1.60.1.69876 suggests that two concepts should not be treated as identical:

  • Honor functions as a spendable PvP currency for gear.
  • PvP Rank Points progress the seasonal rank track.

The same datamine reports a catch-up-style ceiling that rises through the season rather than a zero-sum ladder.

Because this is client-derived rather than a complete Blizzard rules document, we are not publishing exact weekly numbers here as final launch rules.

PvP rewards

Current datamining shows a reward path that can include:

  • faction tabards;
  • PvP trinket access;
  • cloaks and necklaces;
  • consumable access;
  • armor rewards;
  • later prestige rewards associated with the upper ranks.

Wowhead has published current rank reward data, but explicitly notes that beta ranks and rewards remain subject to adjustment.

See Gear Set Bonuses for PvP set effects rather than duplicating item data on this page.

Darkspear Islands Battleground

Developer interviews have named Darkspear Islands as a new Battleground in WoW Forever.

Blizzard's live Q&A also confirms a new Battleground with its own reputation.

A dedicated Battleground page should wait until we have enough verified information about:

  • map layout;
  • objectives;
  • player count;
  • reputation rewards;
  • queue rules;
  • level brackets;
  • beta availability.

Until then, this PvP page remains the canonical search target.

No Rated PvP

"No Rated PvP" is one of the clearest confirmed differences from modern WoW.

That means Forever's long-term PvP progression is being designed around:

  • Battlegrounds;
  • the seasonal rank track;
  • Honor and PvP rewards;
  • open-world PvP on the PvP ruleset;
  • reputation and other PvP content.

We will not create arena-rating or rated-BG guides unless Blizzard changes that direction.

PvP ruleset and realmless servers

PvP ruleset choice is part of Forever's realmless server design. For server population, transfers, rulesets, regions, and naming, use Servers, Realmless & Rulesets.

The PvP page should focus on progression and rewards rather than competing with the Servers page for the same search intent.

What beta still needs to verify

Important open questions include:

  • exact Rank Point earning rates;
  • final weekly/seasonal caps;
  • vendor prices;
  • reward unlock requirements;
  • Darkspear Islands rules and reputation;
  • how world PvP contributes;
  • whether any values change between beta phases;
  • final season timing at launch.
