The Great Outdoors Quest: Camping and Boosted Rest

Complete The Great Outdoors in WoW Forever: find the right campfire, use /sit for Boosted Rest, and follow the Camping 101 profession handoff.

The Great Outdoors asks you to sit by the quest giver's Basic Campfire and wait for the Boosted Rest buff. It introduces Camping, then points you toward a profession trainer through a Camping 101 follow-up. The same quest name appears in several starting zones with different NPCs and quest IDs, so check your own zone before following a coordinate.

Zephras Isle: where to start

For Skyborne characters, The Adventurer sends you from Thendal toward Raan Wildwind, beside the road approaching Shen'dar Village. The beta reference places Raan near 41.6, 44.8 on the Zephras Isle map. Accept The Great Outdoors from him; the Zephras version is recorded as quest 96101.

  1. Stand beside Raan's Basic Campfire, close to the quest giver.
  2. Type /sit in chat. The objective has a separate check for sitting at the fire and gaining Boosted Rest, so wait for the buff before leaving.
  3. Return to Raan when both objectives are complete.
  4. Take the Camping 101 introduction that fits your profession. The Cooking version points to Zerril Softbreeze in Shen'dar Village; other recorded versions include First Aid, Leatherworking and Mining. A Cooking trainer teaches the Basic Campfire that forms the base of your own camp.

The path from Thendal to Shen'dar is part of the Zephras Isle starting route. The professions and Camping guide explains the wider system.

If Boosted Rest does not register

First check that you are next to your quest giver's fire, have used /sit, and have waited for the buff rather than only for the sitting check. Player comments on another starting-zone version report that relogging and sitting again helped when the buff did not trigger. That is a player workaround, not a confirmed Zephras fix; if the issue persists, check the beta known issues and your current client build.

Other starting zones

The objective is similar elsewhere, but the giver and fire are different: beta records show variants in Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Elwynn Forest, Durotar, Tirisfal Glades and Mulgore. Do not travel to Raan on Zephras Isle if your character received the quest in one of those zones.

Evidence note, September 23: The objective and variant IDs come from beta quest records. The Zephras NPC position is a beta map reference; the relog suggestion is a player report from another zone and may stop working after a build change.
