WoW Forever Legacy System: What Is Confirmed

The WoW Forever Legacy system supports leveling and alts, but many mechanics remain unconfirmed. See what Blizzard has said and what beta must verify.

Legacy is a new progression system built to support World of Warcraft: Forever's level 1–60 journey, especially for players who enjoy leveling and alternate characters. Blizzard has confirmed the purpose of the system, but it has not yet published enough final detail to responsibly list every point source, perk, threshold, or account-wide rule.

What Blizzard has confirmed

During the Forever What's Next panel, Blizzard grouped Legacy with the systems designed to keep the 1–60 journey meaningful. The clearest official description is that Legacy progression is aimed at players who love leveling and running alts.

That tells us three useful things already:

  1. Legacy is not being presented as a raid-only endgame progression track.
  2. It is connected to repeat play through the leveling game.
  3. It is important enough to be part of Forever's core system reveal alongside Camping.

What players are already asking

Community discussion around previewed Legacy trees has focused on exactly the questions that will determine whether the system is useful long term:

  • Is Legacy account-wide?
  • How are Legacy points earned?
  • Does leveling multiple characters accelerate progression?
  • Are perks permanent, resettable, or character-specific?
  • Do professions interact with Legacy?
  • Does Hardcore use the same Legacy rules?

Those are legitimate questions, but the research behind this page found that most detailed answers currently come from preview observation rather than a complete Blizzard rules document.

What we are not treating as final yet

We are not publishing a permanent Legacy point table or full perk tree before beta. Preview builds can change, and a wrong progression table would be more damaging than a shorter guide that clearly separates confirmed facts from open questions.

This page will become the canonical home for:

  • Legacy point sources;
  • perk-tree structure;
  • account-wide versus character-specific behavior;
  • profession-related bonuses;
  • alt-leveling interactions;
  • respec or reset rules;
  • Hardcore compatibility, if Blizzard confirms it.

Class talent data belongs on WoW Forever Talents instead. We will not duplicate class talent trees here just because both systems use progression choices.

Why Legacy matters in Forever

Forever is being designed around "the journey before the destination." Blizzard has explicitly rejected level scaling and says leveling should remain a meaningful part of the game. A progression system that rewards repeated 1–60 play fits directly into that philosophy.

The important question is not whether Legacy exists — that is confirmed. The important question is how much power or convenience it grants, how quickly players earn it, and whether it changes the value of leveling additional characters.

Those answers need the beta client, not guesswork.

Beta verification checklist

When beta begins, this page will be updated with:

  • the exact method for earning Legacy progression;
  • whether progress is account-wide;
  • every visible node and requirement;
  • whether points can be refunded or reallocated;
  • whether the tree changes by character, faction, class, or profession;
  • any restrictions involving Hardcore or other future rulesets.

Pre-release note: screenshots and community-built trees are useful for spotting demand, but values and rules remain provisional until verified in the beta client or published by Blizzard.
