Can't Install WoW Forever Beta? Battle.net Fix Checklist
Troubleshoot WoW Forever Beta install and launch problems in Battle.net, including OS requirement errors, greyed install states and launch loops.
WoW Forever Beta players are reporting three different problems that should not be treated as one bug: a greyed or unavailable install, an operating-system requirement error, and a Play → Launching → Play loop. Start by matching your symptom before changing system settings.
If Battle.net says the game cannot be installed yet
- Fully exit Battle.net and make sure its Agent process has also closed, then reopen it.
- Confirm you are signed into the Battle.net account that owns the beta-eligible purchase or entitlement.
- Check for a Battle.net update and restart the computer.
- Check Blizzard's current forums/status messaging before repeatedly reinstalling the game.
Some players reported transient entitlement or network-path behavior during the beta launch. A workaround that helped one player—such as changing networks—does not prove a universal cause.
If Battle.net says your OS does not meet minimum requirements
A number of Windows 10 and Windows 11 users have reported BLZBNTAGT000009CF or a message that their OS is below the minimum even when the displayed versions appear compatible.
Use the safe path first:
- install pending Windows updates;
- update graphics drivers;
- make sure the WoW beta executable is not being forced into an old Windows compatibility mode;
- restart Battle.net after the updates;
- search Blizzard Support for the exact error code.
One forum user reported resolving the issue after moving to Windows 11, but that does not establish Windows 11 as a universal requirement. Do not upgrade an operating system solely because one community report did.
If Play changes to Launching and returns to Play
Blizzard's general World of Warcraft troubleshooting recommends restarting the computer, updating drivers and the OS, checking software conflicts/security exceptions, and reinstalling the Battle.net app if simpler steps fail.
Recent Forever forum reports also show this symptom during periods when players were unable to retrieve realms or when the client needed a pending update. Check whether the issue is widespread before repeatedly reinstalling everything.

This guide does not recommend unofficial command-line install methods or disabling Windows security protections. During a beta, launcher state and entitlement problems can change server-side, and aggressive local changes can make diagnosis harder.
